Our Training Programs
Administrative Assistant class prepares you to work as a receptionist, secretary, typist, administrative assistant, and office clerk. In the Administrative Assistant class you learn filing, business-related English and math. Further, you receive hands-on computer training with an emphasis in word processing and performing functions in Microsoft Works and Microsoft Office, which includes MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Building & Maintenance Technician prepares you for a career maintaining apartment complexes and other commercial properties. This course serves as a great introduction to the skilled trades of plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Many individuals will leave this class and enter careers that will take them to journeyman level in a trade. This course is not only very high in demand and possesses great income potential, but also is an excellent non-traditional field for women. Included in this class are theory and hands-on work in all of the following areas: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, exterior maintenance, appliance repair, grounds maintenance, heating and air conditioning, painting, drywall installation and repair, blueprint reading and wood working. Food & Hospitality Professional prepares students to obtain initial positions as cooks, assistant chefs and assistant restaurant managers. Specific skills will include kitchen safety and sanitation, basic food preparation, basic ingredients, cooking specific cuisine, food presentation, pricing, and customer service and employee management. Retail Store Management prepares students for careers in Lexington's fast growing retail industry. Operating out of an actual retail store, students learn the practical skills of purchasing, receiving, storage and inventory, managing the sales floor, cashier operations, retail sales and customer service, basics of business management, supervisory practices for retail business and retail marketing.
